here are a couple pix of my spring and fall birds. Both Merriams, the spring bird is a young tom and th e fall bird is a hen. Called the tom with a combination of one of my box calls and one of my wingbone calls. Spring bird first.

Guided my friends son James today to finish out the turkey season. He had a 234 license and we headed for private land in Parma. It was a wet morning and the birds were not gobbling in the trees. We set up by the edge of a soybean field and I waited for the first natural gobble that never came. It was fully light and I figured the birds had flew down by now when I started calling. It's been a great week of hunting and persistence paid off for me. The hunting was tough and the weather not the best but I got to hunt everyday and got my bird today at 2:15PM on the last day of my hunt. I could only hunt till about 9:00 each weekday. All my hunting was on state land and I covered a lot of ground during the week. The temps were cool and windy all week except Friday and the birds were henned up and didnt gobble on the ground a lot. I made it out on Friday to start my turkey season. I didnt have a whole lot of time to hunt, but it turned out good. We got into the blind at 6:30a.m. and settled if for a long wait. I'm just sitting here chomping at the bit to get this season going. To pass the time I thought I'd ask; Do you have any traditions or specific schedules for your turkey hunts?

Being my first foray into the hunting sports I have to play catch up with these things. I have my tendencies with fishing such as calling my brother "Sally" every time I hook on to an unexpected, but always appreciated, big fish.

I'm psyched to go on my very first hunt, I eventually got my work buddy to cave in and take me out to hunt turkey on his land after I convinced him that I was serious. I got my hunter's safety certificate and my turkey license, now I can't wait till May!! Fall Turkey Hunt

This afternoon, we decided to head out to some property we got access to for turkeys. Got some info from the owner and we set up near a roosting area. Our night started with 2 does that came running right by us as we sat next to a huge oak. On their heels was a 6pt buck chasing them and grunting.
