Guided my friends son James today to finish out the turkey season. He had a 234 license and we headed for private land in Parma. It was a wet morning and the birds were not gobbling in the trees. We set up by the edge of a soybean field and I waited for the first natural gobble that never came. It was fully light and I figured the birds had flew down by now when I started calling. A couple minutes after the first call, 2 gobblers popped out across the field from us. The hunting was tough and the weather not the best but I got to hunt everyday and got my bird today at 2:15PM on the last day of my hunt. I could only hunt till about 9:00 each weekday. All my hunting was on state land and I covered a lot of ground during the week. The were upwind of us and the buck came withing 40 yrds of us. This was about 5PM. Kind of unusual with it as warm as it was, about 75 degrees. About 5:30, here comes the flock of turkeys.
